Mint green tourmaline and yellow gold wedding ring set
This unusual engagement and wedding ring set is a commission that was completed with the recent addition of the hand carved yellow gold wedding band. It was made for a couple, Ben and Sneha, who are to be married shortly. Initially we worked with Ben to design an engagement ring with a coloured stone. The design for the ring was based around a beautiful mint green tourmaline gemstone. We started by sketching a series of designs for a scupltural engagement ring that would compliment the shape of the stone. Below are sketches showing several variations of the design.
The engagement ring was based on the first of these options. Once the design was decided we hand-carved the ring in wax before casting it in 18-carat yellow gold to create the engagement ring below.
More recently Sneha came to us to commission a carved wedding band to fit alongside it. This is one of the really nice things about engagement and wedding commissions - we will often work with one half of the couple for the engagement ring and then get to know their partner while working together on the wedding bands.
The sketches above show some of the ideas we worked through before settling on the final design seen below.
Update:
We were delighted to hear from Ben shortly after the wedding and to see these beautiful images taken on the day:
