Gold and diamond umbrella stud earring commission
These quirky umbrella stud earrings were great fun to make and come with a lovely story. Our customer commissioned them as a lucky charm; she will be representing team GB at the Rio Olympics very shortly and will wear the umbrella stud earrings to keep her dry. Watch the steeplechase event very closely and you may just catch a glimpse of them.
The design is based on a favorite pair of earrings from childhood, which she had lost. The umbrella studs are made from 18 carat white and rose gold and pave set with white diamonds to symbolise raindrops. The tops of the umbrellas were hand carved in wax, then cast in rose gold. The handles are made from contrasting white gold.
Each stud is set with three pave white diamonds. A brushed finish enhances the colour of the rose gold umbrella studs and creates a greater contrast with the white gold details and sparkling white diamonds.
This commission was an absolute pleasure and we wish her the very best of luck in Rio - fingers crossed the umbrellas do their job!
