Cabochon tourmaline and carved rose gold cocktail ring
This beauty was only on display for a few hours before being snapped up by a customer! Made for our collection recently, it sold the very same day we finished it. The hand-carved green tourmaline and rose gold ring is the latest design in our Carve ring series.
Each Carve ring is designed for a gemstone that has caught our eye. It may be an unusual cut, vivid colour or a stone of exceptional size and quality that we just can't resist. In the case of this tourmaline we couldn't pass by a stone with such an incredible colour.
David creates a unique design for each of the Carve rings. Starting with the stone as inspiration he sketches the form of the ring. Curves and proportions are refined on paper before any making begins. Once satisfied the ring from a solid block of wax making any necessary adjustments along the way. The completed wax is then cast into precious metal.
The wax for this tourmaline cocktail ring was cast in 18 carat rose gold. Brushed rose gold compliments the sculptural curves of the ring. The wide bezel surrounding the tourmaline emphasises the almost liquid appearance of the stone. Green tourmaline and rose gold contrast beautifully. This is surely one of our favourite Carve rings to date!
